What kind of therapy can Safe-Connections Liverpool Therapy offer?

Person Centred Therapy

What is Person Centred Therapy? This is a type of therapy that understands that you are the expert in your own life and through our sessions together we will explore experiences you have been through and the challenges you have faced or may be facing. This exploration can support you to gain a greater understanding of yourself, foster greater self-compassion and acceptance and help you to understand who you authentically are, supporting you to make meaningful changes in life to enable you to feel more self-fulfilled and support you to cope and gain resilience skills that you can take forward in life.


Motivational Interviewing

What is Motivational Interviewing?: This is a counselling style that can empower and strengthen an individual’s motivation and commitment to change, it can be used to help support clients to figure out what changes they are able to and would like to make to improve their circumstances and empower individuals to take the steps to get there.

How many sessions will I need?

The number of sessions you will need will depend on yourself and the depth of issues you may want to work through. For acute symptoms the general amount of sessions can be 6-8 however you may wish to have more sessions if this suits you and your circumstances.

How long are therapy sessions?

Sessions typically last 50 minutes and every enquiring client will be offered a free 15 minute consultation to explore support required, therapy goals and to allow for clients to establish if Safe-Connection Liverpool Therapy is a good fit for them.

Is everything discussed kept confidential?

Everything that you share will be kept completely confidential and this is an important part of building trust within a therapeutic relationship. There may be rare exceptions to this if concerns of serious risk of harm to self or others occur however this will always be discussed with the client and usually involves gaining consent and formulating a plan of care in partnership working with the client.

How long will it take for my appointment?

At Safe-Connection Liverpool Therapy I aim to see clients as soon as they would like to start however occasionally there may be a waiting list which I will inform of at enquiry.

What is the difference between counselling and psychotherapy?

Counselling is often used to describe short term therapeutic support for symptoms of a more acute nature. The term Psychotherapy usually refers to a more in-depth long term support process to gain deeper insight into an individual’s life struggles and problems.
